Look out, Blair: Ex-Melrose Place vamp Katie Cassidy is relocating to Manhattan.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Cassidy — who was arguably the best thing about last season’s ill-fated Melrose reboot — is staying in the CW fold with a multi-episode arc on Gossip Girl.

She’ll play a student at Columbia and a love interest for fellow undergrad Nate (Chace Crawford).

This next bit probably goes without saying, but a Gossip source tells me that Cassidy’s character “will make trouble” for several Upper East Siders, adding, “She is not what she appears.”

Cassidy will first air in the season 4 premiere.

Coincidentally, Cassidy is currently in Paris shooting the teen adventure comedy Monte Carlo alongside fellow Gossip girl Leighton Meester (Blair).

Thoughts? Does Cassidy’s casting warrant an enthusiastic “Yes!” or an apathetic “Meh?” (Hint: The correct answer is “Yes!”)

Freddy Krueger is raking in cash at the box office again, while Robert Downey Jr.’s “Iron Man 2″ got off to a big start overseas.

A remake of the slasher flick “A Nightmare on Elm Street” led the weekend with a $32.2 million debut domestically, according to studio estimates Sunday. Released by the Warner Bros. banner New Line, the movie features Jackie Earle Haley as Krueger, a psycho killer who stalks and slays victims in their dreams.

s Melrose Place star Katie Cassidy pulling a Carrie Underwood and dating a pro hockey player?

Yup!

The blond bombshell told reporters at last night’s Lisa Kline event for Division-E that she’s coupled up, but declined to say exactly who the lucky guy is.

But we did some digging…

“I’m dating someone,” a coy Cassidy said.

She revealed that he’s not an actor but “kind of” in entertainment. She teased that his initials are “J.S.”

“We met at a sporting event,” she said. “We sat next to each other after the game.”

The game took place at the Staples Center in L.A., but Cassidy said the mystery dude is not a basketball player.

In other words, it’s Jarret Stoll of the Los Angeles Kings.

There has been some buzz linking the 23-year-old starlet and 27-year-old iceman, but a source now confirms to us that the two are definitely playing tonsil hockey dating. In fact, Stoll was by her side last night. No, not at the Lisa Kline event (she had pal Kellan Lutz there to keep her company), but at the Melrose Place wrap party at Hollywood Billiards.

Stoll was previously engaged to Rachel Hunter. He ended their three-year romance when he called off their August wedding in June.

Cassidy dated singer Jesse McCartney when she was still in her teens.

Years ago, a show so scandalous, so steamy, so undeniably addictive kept viewers glued to their television screens week after week as smal screen sirens Heather Locklear and Marcia Cross continued to shock and titillate the masses through ridiculous and downright unfathomable plotlines.

The show, of course, was Melrose Place, and few programs have compared to the scintillating spectacle that was this 90s classic. That is, until now. In the grand scheme of everything old being new again, Melrose Place has made a much-anticipated comeback this Fall on The CW (Tuesdays, 9 p.m.). So what’s in store on the new MP? Cover girl Katie Cassidy, who plays Ella Simms (resident Melrose bad girl), brought us up to speed during our photo shoot at Hollywood’s Playhouse. Read More…

Melrose Place is about to get wild. Not only is Heather Locklear in the house and causing Amanda Woodward’s usual brand of havoc, but there’s a major character death coming!

We just caught up with Melrose babe Katie Cassidy (ain’t she gorgeous?!) and she filled us in on all the gory deets about Ella’s troubled future.

Read on for the scoop about how Amanda stirs things up for Melrose Place’s new queen bee, plus what the character death means for the gang.

So first up, is Ella the one who gets whacked? “I can’t tell you!” says Katie, “But I think everyone’s going to be surprised. [The death] is a shocker, but at the same time, it’s really good.”

Look for the character death to reflect everything we’ve learned about the new Melrose Place peeps so far, and for it to be the turning point of the season so far!

In other news, Heather Locklear returns to the series on Nov. 17, and we hear that Amanda Woodward and Katie’s Ella Sims have some choice scenes together. Katie tells us, “Heather is amazing. I’ve had so much fun working with her. She’s a really cool chick and it’s been really great to work with her. I’m happy she came on the show.”

So are Ella and Amanda friends or foes? Katie tells us, “I think Ella looks up to Amanda and ultimately wants to be her, but she isn’t—Ella’s her own character, Ella’s different. That said, with Amanda being the boss of the whole company, Ella would like to be in her shoes at some point.”

Meanwhile, insiders dish that the drama is juicy: Amanda’s first act upon returning to Melrose is to fire Ella’s boss, Caleb (Victor Webster), on the spot (what goes around comes around, buddy), so naturally Ella is practically peeing herself whenever she’s forced to be in Amanda’s presence. As Katie says, “The fans can expect to see a lot of different dynamics to their relationship, but it’s mostly like a boss-employee relationship.”

Last but not least, stay tuned to the CW Tuesdays at 9 p.m. if you want to find out what happens when everybody’s closely guarded scandals, including situations like David’s thievery and Lauren’s prostitution gig, are revealed. As Katie spills, “Everyone’s secrets will come out! I can’t say much now, but everyone’s secret is eventually revealed.”

So, does it work out for Ella in end, or does Amanda eventually give her the boot? Check the chat on Monday and we’ll spill!

It might be time to speed up those Heather Locklear negotiations. The ratings for last night’s Melrose Place premiere are in and, well, they’re not great. The mega-hyped reboot averaged a disappointing 2.3 million viewers. The show fared slightly better among its core young adult audience, placing second in the 9 pm hour. Also of positive note: Melrose was the No. 1 trending topic on Twitter last night for about an hour! (Hey, you take the wins where you can get ‘em).

The second season premiere of 90210 actually fared better with 2.6 million viewers, its highest viewer tally since last winter.

Did you watch either? Thoughts? (Melrose actually gets a lot better next week. Ditto 90210.)
